Nacho Average Challenge #173

Good morning!  We have a fun sketch challenge for you over on the Nacho Blog!  I hope you'll play along with us this week -- we love seeing all the great ideas!!   I used some of the new designer paper that's coming in January in the Occasions Catalog -- it's beautiful!!  It has a stamp set to match, but I didn't use that set for this card.  Instead I used the "A Dozen Thoughts" stamp set!  It's a great sentiment set!

Here's the sketch:

Sunday Stamps Sketch Challenge

I am part of a super-fun stamp group, Stampin' Survivors!   Each season of the TV show, Survivor, we are assigned a player!  When that player gets voted off, you have to send a card to all the remaining players!  It's so fun getting cards each week, and it adds a new dimension to watching Survivor!  This season, I was Spencer.  He made it to the Final Three (hooray!!), so I sent cards to just two people!  I made them "Congratulations" cards -- as they made the Final Three as well!

I used the Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper, from the upcoming Occasions Catalog, and the stamp set, "Sky is the Limit", coming out in the Sale-a-bration Brochure!  Both items will be available on January 5th!!

For my layout, I used the sketch from Sunday Stamps:

Dove of Peace

  • Shimmery White 5” x 3 ¾”
  • Night of Navy 8 ½” x 5 ½”
  • Eggplant Envy 5 1/4” x 4”
  • Seam Bindig Ribbon, appx. 12”

  1. Stamp the image with a classic ink pad on Shimmery White Card Stock.
  2. Fill the Aqua Painter with water.
  3. Starting at the top and ending at the base, “wash” the plain water across the image.
  4. The ink will bleed, coloring the image. The fresher the ink, the darker the image will be.  In the above sample, the image was “washed” after waiting 5 minutes to get the lighter color wash.
  5. To accent with a secondary color, fill an Aqua Painter with water and add 10 drops of ink refill to the barrel. Paint on the color where desired.
  6. Tie a bow with the ribbon and attach with a glue dot.
  7. Attach rhinestones.
  8. Enjoy!
