Autumn is in the Air!!

This is my absolute favorite time of year!  Here in Albuquerque, the International Balloon Fiesta is in full swing–nothing quite like a sky full of hot air balloons!!   I feel like it’s the “kick off” for the holiday season!!

Today, I’m playing along with the Paper Players again!  This week it’s a theme:  Autumn!   I love this “faux wood” technique, and it works so well with the Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder!!

It’s really an easy technique, with WOW results!  For this one, I started with Very Vanilla cardstock, and scored lines every 1/2″.  Take your Crumb Cake ink pad, and “drag” it along the cardstock in the same direction as your lines.  Then DEboss with the embossing folder–in other words, you want the raised portion on the back of the card.  Then, drag your Soft Suede along the cardstock, again in the same direction as the lines.  For a bit of added patina, use a Bermuda Bay and drag very lightly–you do’t want a lot of the Bermuda Bay.  Voila!  You’ve got faux wood carvings!!  Then, I added the pumpkin, flowers and sentiment from the Hello Harvest Bundle!

  1. I have never seen that technique before so appreciate the explanation Tammy – I am going to have to give it a go! It makes a lovely background for your fall pumpkin too. Thanks for playing my theme challenge over at the Paper Players this week!

  2. Love the texture in the background and your fabulous pumpkin full of fall flowers. Great take on the challenge. So glad you joined us at the Paper Players this week
